Laurie Holcomb

Laurie has over 20 years’ experience in executive management and business development. Most recently she founded BlackStar Financial and has been President and co-founder since 2009. During that time BlackStar has purchased over 1,000 homes from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. All homes purchased were distressed and real estate owned by the GSEs and were in need of significant repairs prior to selling to the public. BlackStar purchased the homes, repaired the homes and then sold the homes to retail customers.

Prior to starting BlackStar Financial, Laurie worked at MasterCraft Homes Group, LLC and focused her efforts on land acquisition, development and finance. She has worked on multiple joint venture partnerships and has raised capital for various projects at MasterCraft Residential. Her past experience includes being the CEO and Chairman at Checkmate Staffing in Orange County. Checkmate was a $300 million dollar company and Laurie was listed by Hispanic Business Magazine as one of the top 25 CEOs in the nation. She brings experience in bank financing, debt restructuring and distressed company turnarounds. Additionally, she was the CEO of AYG Wireless, which she successfully sold to Hewlett Packard in 2001 and was the Executive Vice President of which sold to Lycos in 1999.

She has her Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University and has completed her certificate in Entrepreneurial Leadership from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Laurie holds her California Real Estate Broker’s License since 2005.
